We recommend
that all owners of the affected Apple models install the Apple-written updater diskette,
which ad dresses a number of SCSI, networking and printing problems. If you are not using
this patch, the special version of VistaScan, x2.3-54, will allow you to use your scanner
however it will be slower than normal. |

MagicScan 4.0 includes the following new features: html
on-line help and user guide, adds support for .icc colour matching on MacOS and Win95,
integrated link to Binuscan IPM (PhotoPerfect 4.0 or ColorPro 4.2 software required),
supports PowerLook 3000 & new tranny & neg frame holder sizes, on-screen
"proof" option for full-screen preview of image adjustments, scan frame can be
rotated to select non-aligned originals, job list window includes image thumbnails, faster
scanner calibration. Note: does not support UC scanners, PowerLook I (officially, may
require firmware x1.61), Gemini (untested?).

Solves image quality problem with PowerLook III (only)
(image too bright), fixes problem of scanning at 2400dpi >8.33" wide (PowerLook
III only).
Versions 3.10, 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13 are known to contain a bug which affects the scanner
networking driver, UMAX Share - this problem akes it impossible to connect scanners via a
network, with the Preview and Scan buttons greyed out. A patch fixing this problem will be
released by 031097.
Version 3.13 will be the last MagcScan release which supports the UC scanners and the
PowerLook (I) - owing to technical limitations of these models, the future MagicScan v4.0
release will only be compatible with later scanners.
